In the contemporary world, an accentuating landmark of any society cannot be accomplished without acceleration and development of higher education. One of the associated attributes of this effort is to make higher education accessible, particularly to the people living in the peripheral areas. Establishment of the Govt. Degree College Dooru is one such landmark in that direction.
Govt. Degree College Dooru was established in March 2005, vide J&K State Govt. Order No. 28-HE of 2005, dated:09-03-2005 under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan. The college is affiliated to the University of Kashmir vide University Order No.F(Affi-govt-Degree College) Acad/KU/06/592 dated 29 April 2006. The college is recognised by the UGC under 2(F) and 12B of UGC Act 1956. Basically the newly opened Colleges have been established with the vision of offering market-oriented, professional and technical courses to the students, so as to equip the young generation with the modern facilities to coup with the unemployment problem.
The college started its operation from the academic session 2005-2006 with an enrolment of 27 students. The enrolment of the students witnessed an enormous increase over the years. With a meagre number of 27 students in 2005-2006 sessions, the students enrolment reached to 1145 in 2015-2016. The college offers admission in undergraduate courses in the subjects of sciences, applied science, BCA, B.Com and arts.
Though the college is under progression and is equipped with minimal resources, we are committed to their usage at optimal scale for the benefit of student community. The facilities of rich library, state of the art computer Lab with latest computers and other electronic gadgets, science laboratories, University IT centre, UGC network resource centre, gymnasium, smart class room, conference hall and canteen.
